Socata is a French high performance light aircraft manufacturer in collaboration with Mooney Airplane company.
Socata TBM 700 was a class leading and highly successful model, which led to the production of multiple variants and improved models incorporating powerful engines. TBM’s are single engine turbo-prop aircraft with maximum capacity of 6 people. TBMs are fitted with highly luxurious interiors including high quality leather and wood.
Socata TBM’s are employed in military operations by various European and Asian countries for surveillance and rescue operations.
Socata TBMs are involved in various accidents and incidents involving fatalities. Aviation safety network reports 94 accidents and incidents between 1991 and March 2025 including the latest Brooklyn Park, Minnesota incident which lead to the death of one person.
Socata TBM 700 series was involved in Minnesota crash killing the pilot onboard. TBM 700 series was involved in 61 accidents and incidents with 65 fatalities out of 80 total fatalities TBM’s were involved.
Statistics shows TBM 700 series caused the greatest number of incidents and fatalities. Reports suggests it might be due to the popularity and being the bestselling models of all time.
